How does Fractional CO2 Laser work?
Fractional Laser System fires a laser beam which is then split into numbers of microscopic super fine beams, producing tiny dot, or pixel – like treatment zones within the selected target area of the skin, leaving the other zones within it perfectly intact. Therefore, the heat of laser only passes deeply through the fractional damaged area. This allows the skin to heal much faster than if the whole area was treated. During the process, a great amount of collagen is produced for skin rejuvenation; eventually the skin will look much healthier and younger.
The term "fractional" by design, each treatment session targets about 15 to 20 percent of the skin's surface. In other words it treats a "fraction" of the skin surface each time and that is why the technique is called "fractional laser resurfacing". Futura RF has got two hand pieces for both deep and superficial effects. Superficial effects treats fine lines, uneven texture, dyschromia and actinic keratosis. Deep effects treats profound wrinkles and deep scars. |
|
What is the downtime? | |
It takes 5-7 days for complete healing of skin.
Is it painful? | |
Majority of patients are able to tolerate the procedure after application of numbing cream 45min before procedure.
How much time does the each session take?
Each treatment session takes 15-30 minutes.
What is the after care? | |
Post treatment care involves avoiding direct sun exposure and using a good sun block and sunscreen with moisturizer.
What to expect? | |
During the procedure, patients may feel some slight pain and discomfort, which can be greatly reduced with the topical anesthesia. Immediately after the fractional co2 laser procedure, there may be some swelling and redness on the treated area.
Expected downtime averages from 3 to 7 days, depending on the energy and intensity of the fractional CO2 laser treatment done. Peeling of dried/dead skin starts around the 4th or 5th day. |

When does one see the results of Fractional CO2 laser treatment?
Improvements usually can be seen after the 1st fractional CO2 laser treatment, however, multiple sessions may be required depending on the needs of various individuals. Smoother and more even tone skin will be revealed around the 7th day or once the peeling is completed.
How are acne scars treated with fractional CO2 laser?
Acne and other facial scar can be distressing. These scars are caused from damage that occurs in the deep dermis either from infection or trauma. Moderate to heavy acne scars will do best if treated with CO2 laser resurfacing. Fractional CO2 laser is considered to be the best way to treat acne scars on the face. Patients may only need two to four treatments with the CO2 to achieve maximum results. Because CO2 goes much deeper than fractionated resurfacing, patients must be on Retin A and fading cream for two to four weeks prior to treatment and must remain at home for 7 to 10 days after treatment.
